The role of a school bus driver has never been more important.  Transporting students is only a small component in a long list ways bus drivers have stepped up to serve during the pandemic, including delivering homework packets to those without technology at home, providing hot spots for those lacking Internet access, and delivering meals to families and students in need.  As we look at the need to implement social distancing guidelines, what transportation adjustments will districts need to provide?  How will school districts address the need for more buses, more bus drivers, and ensuring an equitable distribution of services to students?

This webinar will address the transportation issues facing school districts in the 2020–2021  school year:

•    Role of the bus driver
•    Barriers to apply CDC guidelines to buses
•    Need for additional buses
•    Need for additional staff
•    Need for support for staff and students riding buses
•    Conflict Resolution with students (levels if already apprehensive) (driver apprehensive)

Learning Objectives:
1.    Understand the financial implications transportation will have on a district including increased labor and professional development costs.
2.    Create a plan based on a school district’s  bus needs and availability, including the necessary changes to current vehicles per CDC guidelines.
3.    Know the resources that will help your school district create transportation policies, taking into consideration the impact on the wellbeing of students.
